The reader is full-color with fun illustrations and includes a pronunciation guide for scientific terms. Students work through a short hands-on experiment in the student activity notebook learning about carbohydrates. Students will learn about using a control and testing for glucose in 4 unknown samples using a glucose indicator strip. Students are encouraged to repeat the glucose test experiment with other household items or to research and explore other ways indicators are used and design their own experiment. The student notebook provides question prompts for students to ask and then answer their own questions about molecules.
